One of our Brownstone Boy signature design elements is the highly desired pocket door. We love adding a pocket door for a bit of historic charm, but they’re also so efficient (especially in narrow spaces like Brownstones) to maximize space and add hidden storage.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED?
First, of course, you’ll need a door, and if you don’t have an opening for one yet, you’ll need to build a casing. Once that’s done, you’ll need a hardware kit for the installation as well as hardware for the pull.

HOW TO STYLE YOUR POCKET DOOR
We love color matching doors to create a really subtle passage, however, our first love will ALWAYS be original wood. You can typically find these at salvage yards or antique shops (we highlight two of our favorites in NY in this vlog), and they really bring so much character to a space.
