How to Create the Perfect Laundry Room

When we approach full gut renovations with our clients, we try to approach everything, including the mundane, with style and function in mind. The same is true for laundry rooms. There’s no reason you can’t being a fun, fresh twist to your daily tasks, while also creating a space that makes them a little easier. Let’s dive in and learn how to create the perfect laundry room!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Of course, a washer and dryer would be your first stop. After that, we’ve rounded up a few things that might make this makeover a little bit more seamless!

DON’T TREAT YOUR LAUNDRY ROOM AS AN AFTERTHOUGHT

One of the easiest way to make things feel boring is to treat them as such. When designing your laundry room, don’t treat it as an afterthought! Now, this isn’t to say that you need to agonize over what paint color or accessories to use, but you should think about how you want to feel in the room, just like you would a kitchen or bedroom! For example, we hate laundry, so at our own house, we decided to give it a fun spin (pun intended) by creating a Drag-Race-Inspired laundry club of sorts. Complete with a disco ball, bright pink walls, and a “You Better Fold” sign, we effectively made laundry way less boring. You can get a closer look on our first episode of Bagels With The Boys, which features the first ever home tour of our house!

MAKE YOUR LIFE, AND YOUR LAUNDRY, EASIER

The perfect laundry room should make laundry feel less painless, either through fun design or through function. Create a space for everything you need, from baskets and hangers to trash cans and detergent. Making a space feel less overwhelming usually helps make whatever you’re doing in the space feel less looming, too.
