We recently had the opportunity to collaborate with the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art and Farrow & Ball on a project that felt personal in every way: reimagining the Greeting Center—the entry point to a museum that’s long served as a cornerstone for LGBTQIA+ art.
From the start, this was about more than aesthetics. The spaces we walk into shape how we feel. And when a space has clearly been designed with care and intention, it tells you something before anyone says a word. For us, this project was about creating that kind of moment—one that says, without having to say it: You’re welcome here.
We’ve always admired what the Leslie-Lohman Museum stands for. It’s a space that uplifts queer artists, preserves stories, and reflects the spectrum of our community with honesty and beauty. To design the first thing visitors see—the literal welcome—was both a privilege and a responsibility.
Working with Farrow & Ball, we landed on a palette that feels grounded but expressive. Kakelugn, a blue-green tone with incredible depth, wraps the walls and ceiling to create continuity and calm. It sets the tone without needing to compete for attention. On the trim, we used Inchyra Blue, a color that adds contrast, richness, and intention.
Together, they shape a space that feels both quiet and considered—inviting without being overdesigned, warm without being obvious.

Color, especially in the context of Pride, is always doing more than one thing. It can be bold or soft, defiant or reflective. For us, it’s not about turning up the volume—it’s about being honest. Sometimes subtlety is the most powerful gesture.
To complete the space, we added the Aksel Alder Floating Shelf (use the link for 10% off) —a clean, architectural moment that offers just enough function without crowding the room. It gave us a way to display books in a way that feels intentional and beautifully restrained, echoing the design language of the palette itself.
